Young people from all over the world have taken part in a video contest to celebrate the cultural benefits of living and working abroad.
The winner of the contest was Mexican Rodrigo Macias, whose film captured his time working as a camp counsellor in the
USA.
The annual “Expand Your Horizons” video contest, hosted by the WYSE Work Abroad Association, encourages young participants in work abroad programs to share their experiences on YouTube. More than 100 young people entered this year’s competition by uploading video diaries which were then judged by a panel of industry experts.
Videos were judged on creativity and the degree to which they supported the mission of WYSE Work Abroad “to facilitate and increase international youth travel and exchange through the promotion of culturally-oriented work abroad activities”.
Macias scooped the US$2,000 prize with his winning video “Work and Travel: the Extravaganza” which has had more than 500 views on YouTube. He was announced as the winner during the WYSE Work Abroad Annual General Meeting at WYSTC last month.
Launched in 2008, the annual “Expand Your Horizons” contest will open again in January 2010 , when young participants representing WYSE Work Abroad member organisations will again be invited to submit short videos about working abroad.
